    all I find on google is an old picture of a dog. where did she go? can she not be found?

      wiki link. A dog sent into space by the USSR before they had any way of returning, so it was a death sentence.

        I do not understand, why are they still looking for her then? perhaps she was frozen in space? I have heard that they can thaw los mamuts pero they are most often deceased. I will pray for Laika's family.

          They're not saying "come home" in a literal since, it's their way of voicing that Laika is missed.

          Reading about her, she was a great dog. Really kind, never provoked other dogs, and fairly noisy. One Russian scientist involved with Laika's launch said that the loss of Laika wasn't worth the mission, since not much data was gained from it (it was planned to be a days-long mission at least but Laika died from overheating within a few hours from launch due to a failed cooling system).

            This is very sad. I understand how that poor scientist felt. Failure is something I must live with every day.
